Keyboard & Thinkpoint Inert On Bootup After Bad Malware Fighter DeInstall

Greetings!

Here's my situation which I doubt is specific to my 32bit Windows 7 z61t Thinkpad and so is a general help call.

I recently installed paid Pro Avast to replace IOBIT ASC Ultimate 10 whose companion Malware Warrior was leaking porn pop-ups like a sieve.

Shortly afterward my sound function stopped, and via user recommendations I checked services.msc and the Windows Audio Service panel and checked off the tab's features and dependencies (rceiving error 1068s and can't change in safe mode alerts) but no go. I de-installed IOBIT Smart Driver Update on a hunch and only ended up with my wifi function getting red-x marks and deactivated, its control panel screen reporting that supposedly because dependency files were missing. When I tried to to a system restore to a period before I installed Avast I discovered all those system recovery files had disappeared! I had a poor man's backup to that via ToolWiz Care's Registry recovery feature but when I rebooted after selecting an earlier listing I saw on the black screen IOBIT Smart Defrag "Initializing Keyboard" along with several odd quickie tuneups just before boot-up moved on and I discovered that the keyboard and trackpoint no longer functioned on the log-on screen.

I have a USB wireless mouse that did work and via sage user recommendations I enabled the on-screen keyboard from the log-in screen to log my i.d. text in with and erected another onscreen keyboard to open a cmd screen to msconfig and try to uninstall services and boot-up items and enable some on test and trial basis to see whether any were faulty or corrupted after repeated reboots but no go. Oddly enough like insult to injury, the sound and wifi issues are doing fine now, only I've no keyboard/trackpoint way of controlling things!

Right now my Keyboard Properties panel shows under Hardware that I've a HID Keyloard Device and Standard PS/2 Keyboard entries with yellow triangles attached to them, device status being "Windows cannot load the device driver for the hardware" even though they show up under Details. This was the same kind of message I got for the sound issue but apparently those drivers were still there too. In desperation I thumb-drive transferred to my z61t a download of Lenovo's keyboard driver (ID5KYB28WW5) to install but to no avail.

Maybe this all started from a bad interaction between Avast and IObit before I gave the infamous latter the boot, but I don't want to mess around the registry anymore till I get a consensus of sage suggestions what I can do next. For now I'm falling on my trusty T400. My z61t which is a fire-sale eBay baby of course has no master Windows CD to repair or reinstall by (which hassle I really want to avoid anyway.)

I've heard enough about IOBIT products to feel a fool about giving them a break and a chance and my wallet but no more.

I guess your stuck in rebuild limbo. Take out the drive, backup, and rebuild.

I suggest to save whatever files from your Z61t.
If T400 and Z61t have the same OS, then clone your T400 HD onto the Z61t drive.
That way you get rid of your malware and achieve a quick "install" all in one go.
Shouldn't need too many drivers to get the Z61t going again.

Is there any way I can insert or "force" a boot-up enable of keyboard on Windows? My z61t shares a Mint partition that I can use to stage any Win surgery from IF I knew exactly what cut and replace. I'd use Mint perm on the thing but alas, as usual Win has too many goodies Mint hasn''t!

You might want to slam the f8 key while windows loads and get into safe mode. Try that and see if keyboard works.
