WS_FTP LE is discontinued. Alternatives

#1 Post by RealBlackStuff » Tue May 23, 2017 11:41 am

Today I tried to renew my (free) Ipswitch WS_FTP LE, because the license expired yesterday.
Ipswich renewed the license a number of times, confirming via email, but the program itself never got renewed.
It kept saying: Renew...

After getting nowhere with this, I found that WS-FTP LE is discontinued, you now have to buy it!
See http://www.wsftple.com/

Not interested in spending money on this, I found this: https://forums.radioreference.com/compu ... newal.html

As recommended there, I went for the free WinSCP
Always happy to save a few bucks!

EDIT: if you find that WS_FTP LE won't let you in the program any longer, there's a simple "fix":
just set your computer's date to one from BEFORE it locked you out.
That way you can get at your setup-data.
When done, don't forget to set the computer date back, you can now UNinstall WS_FTP LE.

Ive been perfectly happy with winscp for the few times a year when i have to upload files to a raspberry pi. If it aint broke, dont fix it unless it cost too much money. Im talking to you ADOBE! Glad your happy like i am. :-)

I used FileZilla until they started to bundle malware into the installer (via SourceForge). Now I use FireFTP addon in Firefox browser.
