I'm just curious how different Thinkpadders have different ideals.
1: 1920x1080 IPS vs 800x600 TN
2: Trackpoint and new keyboard or T6x keyboard and trackpad (a good one)
3: 12" in 15" form factor but with magnesium rollcage or 12" with no border and ABS plastic.
4: i3 and 3lbs or i7 and 7lbs
5: Dvd Drive or HDD or Battery (or ultrabay serial port :p)
6: X series 4s flat vs 4s fat vs 8s battery
7: IBM Logo on a Lenovo or Lenovo logo on an IBM.
8: CSTN color or TFT monochrome.
This is just for fun. Incase youre insterested my picks are:
1080p IPS
Trackpoint and new keyboard.
12" ABS
7lbs i7
DVD drive
4s fat.
IBM on Lenovo
And TFT Monochrome.

The only acceptable use for a MacBook is to shop for a Thinkpad.
Thinkpads: 570e,A31p,T40,T42 x3,T42p UXGA,T60p,T61,X61s,X201,X220,X230,T410,T420,T430s(dead),X240 with mod.
New: 701c, 755c, 755cdv
Others: Zenith 286 supersport, Mac Portable 5120, Tandy LT1400

Re: Would you rather?
1. is a strange question. Who would prefer a screen that's both low resolution and worse quality?
2. Neither is acceptable to me
3. Although 12" in 15" shell is exaggeration in any scenario, I would prefer a borderless smaller display without a rollcage
4. That's an illogical tradeoff that has no reason to exist. i3 and i7 are the same form factor, and the same thermal envelope (given the same number of cores). Even going from dual i3 to quad i7 will never require so much extra cooling that would more than double the weight.
5. Assuming it is fixed and I cannot change them - probably a DVD, unless the internal battery is so weak that it must have a bay battery (like T400s-430s series) - in which case, a battery.
6. None - they all suck. 6-cell fat like on the X200-230 series.
7. What's "an IBM"? IBM does not make laptops anymore. I want a good Thinkpad, and I don't care about the logo.
8. Again - what a weird question.
