Phone jack on T540 sometimes looses contact

#1 Post by Utwig » Fri Jun 09, 2017 4:03 am

Once I jacked the headphone cable out by chair on T540p. Since then if the cable moves it looses stereo, so from time to time I have to correct the cable.

I examined the service manuals and headphone jack is part of mainboard. Is there a way to repair / replace headphone jack on T540p without replacing motherboard?

Try to correct the insides of the jack with a strong needle, it's probably bent due to the rough plug-removal.
Or remove the damaged jack and find any other jack that is small enough to fit in the (now empty) place, solder it onto the old jack-spots and "fix" it any which way you can.

It wasn't molded into the MB. If you can get a soldering iron in there you can replace the jack.
