Keyboard Lettering
Hi all,
The letterings on my keyboard are starting to disappear. Probably due to the way I type which sometimes scratches the keys instead of tapping it.
Any idea where can I get those 'stickers' to replace the missing letters?
I've seen Thinkpads that come with black stickers that have foreign characters on them (ie, Thai) however, does it have the standard English set of characters?

Heh, I know how to do that with a desktop keyboard.AlphaKilo470 wrote:Or you can learn to touch type and really impress your friends by being able to use a keyboard without lettering.
I also can look away from the screen, type, and know if I'm making a mistake (I'm kind of used to using the keyboard enough to feel if I hit the wrong key)
I like to have the printing there, but on a 101 key, I can aim no problem w/o looking (just make sure there are dimples on F and J). Now, when I'm jabbing keys like PgDn on this Dell laptop, I OFTEN inadvertantly(sp?) hit End - which sends me to the END of a page, rather than one down.
That's not the worst, I've seen, though. I've seen an el cheapo keyboard that when you aim for Scroll Lock, you sleep the PC, and when you aim for Pause/Break, you shut down the PC - because that keyblock is shifted down, and in its place is the power keys...

It would be nice/cheaper to have stickers. But an other option is to call IBM and get a new keyboard for about $50. If you do that see that you get the better keyboard (The Thai NMB if I remember) There are plenty of threads here about the keyboard type, and there is also a web page on IBM (linked from the FAQ) that lets you know the exact part number of your laptop components.
Edit: I remember I saw letters stickers on Art/Graphics/Office stores, though the ones I remember were black fonts and transparent background, but maybe they would have white fonts and transparent background too, which is what you need.

Thanks
Thanks for the reply guys... I have no issues typing without the letterings as I do not refer to the keys while typing. I just wanted my Thinkpad to look nice and neat.

Consider a Thinkpad without labelled keys cool and l33tx31thinkpad wrote:I just wanted my Thinkpad to look nice and neat.
