Best 2nd power supply for T43?

#1 Post by alpuzz » Sun Jun 19, 2005 11:56 am

just wondering what considerations I should take into account when shopping for a 2nd power supply? on Ebay, I've seen some which claim to work with T, as well as X series. Does this mean I could use one of the little supplies that ship with the X machines? If so, what part numbers should I be looking for?

What other factors are also worth considering? I would suppose a 2 prong is preferable to a 3 but other than that, is there anything else?

Thanks,

Look for 72W ones. The X40 ones are 56W which are not appropriate for T4x.

Whenever I get the T43, I'll have a total of three power adapters. The 72w AC brick will stay in my bag and I'll power the T43 at home thru the Dock II and I ordered an AC/DC car & wall adapter for trips when I won't be near 120v AC. Whatever you do, don't skimp on a quality PS, as the inferiour ones make noise, get really hot, and provide dirty DC power to the laptop.

If I'm just shopping on Ebay, how can I tell a quality pS from an inferiour one? Are there certain PNs I should be looking for?

Thanks,

Just stick with genuine IBM T4x series PS's. I've seen generic PS's that FIT IBM's, but generics in general can be hit & miss regardless of laptop brand.
