I began with Corel Linux
Wasn't that Xandros? which is where I started with linux in the early 2000's. I use linux for everything (almost - do have win7 in a VM for those odd sites that insist on IE and for word and excel).

I think both of these modules work only on the T430 and X430 series and lower, on any newer machines they either don't load or don't report battery cycle information...
I know it's an old post but to set things straight... for older than t430 use tp-smapi, for t430 and newer use acpi-call
