T23 Floppy Drive Cable

I have the external cable that goes from the parallel port to the connector on the back of my Ultra bay 2000 floppy drive. It works perfectly with the T23 but when I hook it up to the parallel port on my T42p it is not recognized.
The floppy drive controller seems to fine on the T42 but the drive does not show up in My Computer.
Am I missing a driver or does this cable just not work with the T42? Any ideas?
