Thanks...and suggestion for a FAQ

#1 Post by Nomad-Man » Mon Jun 20, 2005 9:14 pm

If anyone visted the "Estimated Ship Date" thread you will know after reading my post that my very first thinkpad is on its way.
I want to thank everyone here that put in their two cents over the last 6 months or so at answering my questions. Yeah I know 6 months is a long time of fiddledidling around with a buying decision..
I was pretty much set to buy just before the IBM/LENOVO switch-a-roo. When that hit I didnt know what to do. I the got busy at work and decided to "wait and see" as I didnt need it right away anyway. Got back on the bandwagon and here I am.

Thanks to Bill for hosting this fabulous board. These boards are a great informational source for IBM/LONOVO laptops.

I must admit though I almost bought a D... (cough).
When I was looking through a dell forum once I came across a post that was basically FAQ's for what to do when you get your laptop. Which I thought was kinda neat.. Things to check,Screen, hardware issues, stuff to write down, things to get updated right away...ETC.. I Found it odd that no one here (unless ive missed it somewhere) has put together a Newbies FAQ so speak for people who have never had laptops before or maybe even a Thinkpad.
I remember reading in a post here that there are like 50 ibm services running on startup and someone wanted to know what they were and which ones they might be able to Axe.
Could a few of you or someone start a FAQ section for stuff like this. ( I know bill has one started in his Faq section)
Kinda like a cake recipe for the thinkpad. Stuff to check for, things to do upon recieving....
T43 .. First Thinkpad...Ordered 06/07/05...Received 06/21/05
Lovin' it

This is a do-it-yourself, fully participatory process. If you think a Newbies FAQ is a good idea, start writing one, post it for others' review and additions/revisions and, if Bill and the mod team approves it, we'll post it in the FAQ section. Just let us know when you have something for us to look at!

Happy writing! ;-)

Moving this to somewhere more appropriate for a meta discussion.
