Widescreen vs standard

Well just wondering.
I myself have a preferance toward standard screen sizes after I saw the laptops at Bestbuy/Etc. (Those XX^5L sized sofabed laptops)
They remind me of a door in their shape, small littile keyboard, then your laptop is not tall at all, but INSANELY WIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIDDDDDDDDDDDEEEEEEEEEEE.

I want an Xbrite, care much less on wide or not.

Too much glare on XBrite, I prefer a matt screen.

It really depends on what you'll be using the computer for and if you plan to move aorund with the computrer alot.

Hopefully Lenovo will provide both options. I don't believe widescreen is only good for dvd. It can be very handy in spreadsheet applications too.

I still prefer screens of standard size and matte coating. I'd rather not have a machine with a large footprint and excessive glare.

You can get small widescreens too.

Small ones that are smaller than your normal standard screen but still take up much space, so thats quite annoying.
You're stuck with on widescreens either with
"Sofa bed"
"Smaller screen area, laptop that eats your space"

1 Advantage of those 12" widescreens is the higher resolution.

But only @ 12" ... otherwhise I would never buy an Widescreen laptop.
Just doesn't feels right.

15.4" widescreens are pretty sweet,,, lots of space, but still pretty compact (depending on the model, of course)

I've seen 17 inch hugescreen Toshiba laptops, they look like weird flatish long briefcases in my view... That are a bendable plasticy silver look. Then you have the weird looking 15 inch ones that look "small" screen compared to a standard laptop, but not very "small and compact"

Look at an Apple PowerBook to see a widescreen done right. The 15.4" PowerBook is about the same width as a 15" ThinkPad, a bit shorter and a whole lot thinner. Not in any way sofabed like, though the 17" model is quite large.

Don't really have any use for a widescreen. Next time I buy a thinkpad, it'll be a 14,1" model again.

I have my great 14.1" screen. I wouldn't want a widescreen if I was offered one for free (maybe to sell it, but hey, I wouldn't own one).

I'd like a widescreen if most laptops with widescreen weren't wide as my Mercury. I think Apple did a good job with widescreen though. I got to play around with a PowerBook over at the Apple store in the nearby mall. It'd be nice on long bus trips or plane rides for watching DVD's. I don't care too much for Apples because everything I run is for the PC but I still have to say that they do a great job on the PowerBook line. I especially like the 12" model, it's almost like an X series with an internal drive, metalic casing and OSX.
