Which T60 CPU are you using. It is likely a T2400 which is 32bit only, not 64 which those OS are likely.
"Its not what screen ratio you have, it is what you do with it." -me

Now stop complaining and get back to work with your "wrongly configured" box of pixels.

-Thinkpad4by3, or 3:2, or 16:10, or 16:9, or 21:9.....or whatever.

If he was trying to install the 64 bit flavor of any of those OSes with an x86 only CPU, it wouldn't get past the bootloader to install.

I have seen a few instances where immediately after the install and first reboot, the machine gets "stuck" at the Starting Windows screen for 1-2 minutes before moving on. It only does it once, so I'm not sure what it doesn't like...

Where exactly does it freeze? CMOS to defaults change anything?

Are you installing to the internal hard drive or to a drive in the bay?

Are there any USB devices connected during the boot that freezes?

Can you boot in safe mode (after the installation is done copying files)?

Pressing F5 or F8 when starting (I can never remember which) should allow you to load in safe mode.

How long do you let it sit while it's at the first logo display during first boot before giving up on it?

Any change if you try the other HDD mode (AHCI/Compatibility) for install?

1. Does your T60 have Intel or ATI graphics?
2. What's its BIOS version?
Daily driver: X220 4291-C91 i7-2620M

Backup: X220 4291-P79 i5-2520M
Toy: X60F Core Solo U1300
In pieces: two retired but working X61Ts
RIP: 760XD 9546-U9E; X61 7676-A24; and a BOE-Hydis HV121P01-100 in failed SXGA+ mod

I don't think there are any meaningful differences between 2.26 and 2.27 (which is the latest version for 4:3 T60).

You could try booting from a Linux live CD or USB to prove the T60 hardware.
Also what happens if you skip installing updates? These have been known to kill a machine.
Where to begin......
390X,700mhz
2 x T20
2 X T23 + 6 breaking for parts
1 X T23 with Samsung 840 SSD and XP Great combination !
4 X T60
5 X T61
2 X T601 15"

I've had this happen a couple of times while installing Windows 7 on various Thinkpads. Instead of trying to find the bug, I simply reinstall Windows and everything works even though the previous install did not work.

You can stop updates by having no internet connection available or disabling the Windows update service. Its worth a try to see if one of the updates is screwing the Tpad.
Another long shot, what Bios level do you have ? W7 not supported before 2.25.
Have you got another T60 to try installing on. I
As I am sure you know it should just work......
