Are there alternate LCD's for 600e?

Older ThinkPads.. from the 600, the 7xx, the iSeries, 300, 500, the Transnote and, of course, the 701

Are there alternate LCD's for 600e?

#1 Post by smeagol69 » Tue Jun 21, 2005 5:45 pm

Hi All,
I am trying to use the guts of a 600e for a project, & was wondering if it was possible to "upgrade" the LCD at this time. I want to get an LCD that has a better viewing angle, as i have found that you pretty much have to be looking head-on to see it well. I am taking the guts out from the shell, so exact size of the LCD is not an issue, although I still want to keep it around the same size. Has anyone out there tried this, or knows what LCD's can work with the 600e?
Thanks!

You would have to know exactly what type of LCD it is and the manufacturer. It's possible that a later IBM Thinkpad screen will work with the 600e controller. Has to be the same type screen and use the same pin-out for the controller though. Lots of expensive trial and error!

As An External Monitor?

Perhaps if it was connected as an external monitor? Since you mention that you were removing the internal parts of the Thinkpad, are you using them in a new case? in a non-tradition case?

you can run a tp380z ok but you have to carefully fold the harness to fit in the much lower position.
