About the memory upgrade of X40?

#1 Post by mzd » Wed Jun 22, 2005 11:20 am

Hello, all,
This is my first time to use IBM TP X40. I am considering to upgrade the memory to 1GB. BUT after I read the descriptions, it seems that there is only one SODIMM slot in X40. Thus I have to buy a 1GB memory module and cannot install two 512MB memory modules, right?
Thank you for reading.

You are correct.

The Thinkpad X40 has one SODIMM slot available. Base memory is soldered to the system board.

Hi there

The X series, X40 included, has RAM embedded on the motherboard. Usually 256 or 512. It then has one slot that you can install a DIMM of 256, 512 or 1014 mb.

This way you can install a 512 module and get a gb.

Thank you so much.
Now I know the original 512MB was soldered in the mother board. Previously I thought it was put in the sodimm slot.
