strange ultranav profile behavior

#1 Post by eharley » Thu Jun 23, 2005 8:45 am

One of the first things I did when I got my Thinkpad was to disable tapping on the touchpad. I still like to be able to use it occasionally, so I haven't disabled it entirely. Sometimes it's nice for scrolling. I adjusted things, saved a profile, selected it, clicked "Apply," then clicked "OK."

On at least one occasion my Thinkpad has reverted to having the tapping turned on, and I can't figure out what I might have done to cause that. Pretty irritating when you accidentally bump the touchpad and something gets selected or clicked.

Right now, this is the strange behavior I see: Open up the UltraNav Wizard, a profile called "Custom" is enabled. This for some reason contains most of my preferences, except that it says tapping is enabled. However, I when I try to tap with the touchpad, tapping does not actually seem to be enabled. I choose the profile I created (with tapping disabled) and click "Apply." When I exit and re-open the wizard again, it comes up on the "Custom" profile and says that tapping is enabled, even though the touchpad still doesn't behave as if it is.

So for now, at least, tapping is disabled, which is good. But why does it always say that it's enabled? It just bothers me that the software doesn't seem to be working properly, and I wonder if it will randomly turn itself on again at some point.
