Possible to Upgrade CPU in T42p?

#1 Post by WozniakMac » Thu Jun 23, 2005 1:17 pm

I was just wondering if it was possible to upgrade the processor in my T42p? And if so, what is the fastest I can get in it?

Thank you.

It is not really possible. The CPU do not unplug from the motherboard like a desktop. They are soldered direct to the mother board. As you have maxed out the ram you are most likely getting all you can get.

I just came from a T42p to the newest T43 and there is not that much of a difference in speed.

I don't guess I really need 2gb of ram, but It was so cheap, and you can't really ever have to much. It's nice to have the extra, if needed.

The CPU is on a socket and can be replaced. The GPU is soldered on the motherboard. See the hardware maintenance manual for instructions on how to do so.

The top of the line T42p has a 2.1GHz processor, so I assume you can get at least that.
