Fan noise now disappering??

#1 Post by BoostedA4 » Fri Jun 24, 2005 1:55 pm

Today I just fresh-installed XP for the second time on my T43 (2668-88U)(dumb me downloading some fun virus). I just finished installing all the drivers, software, and disabling practically every service that is not needed.

As we speak, my fan is not on, not even a slight hum. It was on for a few minutes before, but then it went off. My current temperature is 42 degrees celsius

I do not know what happened, but I have no fan on, NONE. Before, as in for the past two weeks, my fan would come on around 41 degrees celsius and not go off. Though it was a slight hum, it was still always on.

I'll keep posting about my fan and if it comes back on for a consistent period of time as it always had.

EDIT: fan came on after a few minutes of writing this. It is on a very low hum, however, and not the louder fan noise that I used to hear

Good to hear. Which model do you have, a T43 I am guessing?

Or maybe the fan noise has finally destroyed your hearing.

Sounds very interesting! Did you just reinstall everything from the rescue and recovery or download some updates online? And what have you disabled?

Eh I wasn't trying anything, the timestamp is 4 minutes before your post there was no way I could have known. Looked funny from my perspective though. :P

Interesting, while my fan isn't irritbally loud (Try dealing with 6 Vantec Tornados as your GENERAL desktop for web-browsing, movie, and gaming muffled by "BIG CUSHONY PILLOWS"), it does get annoying when it runs when my T43 is exceptionally cold, or doesn't run (Fast enough) when its quite warm.

I have solved the problem with the fan noise too.
It is quite hot here in Vienna (Europe), around 32C, so I
use an el. fan, otherwise it is really difficult to stand that heat = well, my TP is very quite now ;)
