I've read some TPF T420 QuadCore ForumThreads; e.g.,
SOLD: T420 i7-3610QM ...
SOLD: $40 -- T420 MB 63Y1989 w/ Coreboot -- accepts Ivy Bridge CPU
I'd like to ask/know ...
How would/should I proceed to assess making the purchase ???
Seemingly (imo) ...
the T420, T520 & W520 were the final "classic" ThinkPads ... (nicht wahr )
before Lenovo changed/ruined the TP KeyBoard:
TeamLiquid: Lenovo and the Thinkpad keyboard change
Last month I "tried out" ... for the first time ever ...
a "PostClassic" TP ~ X230 ...
I still can't fathom ... why ...
the PrtSc key was/is so "prominently" placed ???
When did the AppsKey start disappearing ... from keyboards ?!?!?!
I (also) couldn't believe
when I asked the X230 owner,
"Where's the AppsKey ???
the reply was, "The what ???

buying t420 over t430 is an idiotic decision no matter who recommends you that
with some effort, the t430 can have 7-row keyboard just like the T420, but have the advantage of usb3/better chassis/better chipset.
it will accept 2133mhz memory (g.skill cl11) with factory bios
I recommend you visit the /r/thinkpad discord in my signature, there are much more people with the knowledge willing to help you (one in particular is very experienced with the T430).
