New owners of 600 series

#1 Post by farmer kev » Sat Jun 25, 2005 6:01 pm

Last week mine showed up from the evilbay seller, being the fiddler I am I opened it right there in the post office and then proceded to remove and try to reinstall the cd-rom drive. Like an idjet when it didn't go right away I pushed a little harder only to hear something tear inside. Thats par, don't have something 5 minuets and I break it, seems when seller replaced the cmos battery it didn't get tucked away like it should, well the drive caught the battery and ripped the dang wires off! Yesterday I was finally in the right frame of mind to do fiddly soldering and I put it back together and it works perfect now.

So two lessons here:
1: don't force things you don't understand yet.
2: inspect 600 ultraslimbays for wayward cmos batteries.

Once I got it stuck under the little clip, the wires took care of themselves.
Took a bit of time to find that clip though.
