Fedora 28 (KDE) on T550

#1 Post by edik » Fri May 25, 2018 3:16 pm

T550
i5-5300u
16GB RAM
256GB SSD
IPS 3K Touch Panel
72Wh battery
(Non-backlit keyboard)

Everything works out of the box, including suspend, hibernation and the function key controls (can't test camera/mic as they can't be seen by Linux/Windows, some hardware issue)

Suspend lost about 4% battery in 12 hours, so very good I think.

With KDE desktop I can with powertop and tlp reduce to around 6.5W/hour (was 4.5W/hour on my T450 8GB/256GB TN FHD).

Incidentally a very light buzzing noise with Windows drove me crazy, this was eliminated in Linux.

2018: T550/16/IPS 3K Touch/72Wh

Gone but not forgotten 1998-2006: 2006 T43p 2668-H2G (2GB/60), T22 2648-8EG (128/20) 2005 X40, X31 2004 T30 SXGA+, 600X, 2003 770 P233+DVD Card, 760XD 1998 760XL+104MB
