760cd salvage

#1 Post by farmer kev » Sun Jun 26, 2005 12:56 pm

Three years ago I managed to not have my thinkpad protected from a lightning strike to the phone system. The good news was the hard drive and cd drive survived fine and worked in my 755cd backup machine, I quickly bought another 760cd off ebay. :)
Question is what other parts might still work? When I hook up the wall adapter it is stone dead. Today I removed the built in modem and its still dead. I don't have a good battery to test things that way. :?

If your computer stopped working after the lightning strom, the first two components I'd assume to be bad are the DC board and the system board.
