All T43's Back-Ordered???

I called lenovo earlier this evening in reference to the T43 I ordered on 6/15, as they changed my status from "within 2 weeks" to "Your product is currently back-ordered, please call for further information."

He couldn't give me an exact shipdate, but said the one listed on my order status page (7/15) was wrong. I also asked him if I could order a different T43 and he said they were all back-ordered.

I tried adding 5 differently configured T43's to my cart by using the quick-buy feature and typing in the model number, and none of them were even shown as existing! Something about an invalid model number...I guess back-ordered series get REMOVED from the system...

What the heck is going on with these folks?

Either they're implementing some kind of redesign on these models or someone majorly screwed up a materials order...

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for them taking the time to correct issues with these machines, but come on, throw me a bone here & it'd change my outlook 180-degrees! Not to mention I'm quickly approaching the 30-day return period on the $500 worth of extra crap I ordered.

Hmm, looks like we've found some relevant information, finally! All three of those models listed above are 15" models with FlexView screens.

I'm not sure how many major internal parts differ between the 14" & 15" T43's, but maybe lenovo is having trouble getting a hold of the 14" size case or screen?

I'd be curious to see how many folks get a 14" T43 shipped out this week.

I'm going to call lenovo again and specifically ask them about the 14" size T43's and see if that's the hold up. Who knows, maybe I'll get lucky and get someone that's knowledgeable about the situation.

FWIW, the 15" is absolutely gorgeous and worth every penny IMHO. Unless you need that extra little bit of mobility it might be worth changing your order to a 15" model?

why don't you buy from ibm authorized reseller?? you can get it probably within few days.

Hello all....this is my first post in this forum. Have been reading the various threads and the replies by fellow members here. You guys are very helpful and also wanted to thank the admins/mods who manage this board and who run this wonderful forum.

I just bought my new thinkpad on 06/21. It is a 2687DVU w/3 yr thinkpad protection. I purchased an additional 512 MB stick separately since it saved me $50 compared to adding the extra stick when I customized it.

I ordered my 2687DVU on 6/15 and it arrived on 6/24. Hope you get yours soon!

I noticed on 6/22 at 10PM that the status had changed. On 6/23 in the AM it shipped from Hong Kong and made it all the way to Manchester NH by that night, and was on the truck and delivered to my front door by 8:30AM on 6/24. I chose the basic ground shipping which was the default for my order.

Well I'll be dang, I was about to call up and inquire about a 15" model and I figured I'd check my order one more time & wouldn't you know...

IT'S PACKING!!!

That was the last thing I thought I'd see! Hopefully it will ship out this evening and I'll get it by Thursday!
