External monitor on X32
External monitor on X32
I'm putting my new X32 through the paces to ensure that I should keep it and I came up with the following problem:
What I'm trying to do: Stretch the desktop between the X32 and a Samsung SyncMaster 712N while running 1024x768 on the laptop and 1280x1024 on the Samsung.
The problem: I can only seem to run 1280x1024 on the Samsung when it is being used alone. If I try to run the X32 screen at the same time (e.g. to achieve my dual monitor goals), the Samsung is constrained to 1024x768 regardless of my settings in the Thinkpad Display Schemes software.
The question: How do I achieve 1280x1024 on an external monitor while using 1024x768 on the X32 (for instant messaging)? Goal is to stretch the desktop as opposed to mirror.
Thanks for your help.

Are you doing this through the hydravision application?coburn wrote:I'm putting my new X32 through the paces to ensure that I should keep it and I came up with the following problem:

Re: External monitor on X32
No, I am using the IBM application that you get with Fn+F7. Only way I can get it to work now is to use 16bit as opposed to 32bit. Not sure if that is right though.mekman wrote:Are you doing this through the hydravision application?

X32 is 16 bit at 1024x768 and
19" LCD is 32 bit at 1290x1024 (when I extend the screen)
I dock my machine, so I use presentation manager to default to the 19" LCD and blank the X32's screen. When I the X32 to extend the screen to the 19" LCD I can only get the laptop to support 16 bit color.

That is interesting. Thanks for checking on this. Appreciate it.mekman wrote:Just tried that
