After Market internal DVD Writer for T-Series Thinkpads

It seems that I have read somewhere that there are some manufacturers that produce a DVD Writer that will fit inside the multibay on a T4x, and for a lot less money than IBM charges, and with greater speed and dual layer, etc, etc. Is this true? If so where can I get one of these?

No, not yet. Your only choices are the ones from IBM/Lenovo.

The T4x drives are 9.5mm high. Other drives are 12.7mm high. You can use the 12.7mm ones in the Ultrabay 2000 in the T2x series. Both NEC and Pioneer have good ones for those.

The NEC ND6500A is currently $95 + $4 s/h at newegg.com. It writes 8X DVD+/-R and 2.4X DVD+R DL.
