Best internal Wireless for T30

#1 Post by phoenix_one » Wed Jun 29, 2005 2:27 pm

If I use the no-1802 I can use ANY mini PCI wireless card?

I am debating in wether getting the INTEL WM3B2915ABGNAX abg card or the INTEL WM3B2200BGMWWB2 bg card.

Will any of these work?

Will an Atheros abg?

How can I switch them on/off?

In theory yes but remember that the no-1802 patch can be a dangerous process.

Do you know what you will be accessing with it? A lot of people want abg cause it sounds the best but i have never really met anyone what uses 802.11a, 802.11g is obviously useful for the future but most hotspots etc are still 802.11b. The only option for wanting a specific card other than that would be if you require specific protocols for work on something.

I run the Intel 2100 802.11b card and i have no intention of upgrading even though my router is 802.11g capable - its much faster than my broadband connection and transfer to my xbox speeds are adequate for me. At work i only use occasionally in meetings for email /web access etc so thats not an issue and all the hotels i stay at etc are just 802.11b.

Its just worth considering before putting yourself through any hassle only to end up using the b standard anyway

Fn&f5 should work for any of the IBM cards with the right drivers.
