Could someone please tell me what happened to my tray icons?

#1 Post by roanoke » Thu Jun 30, 2005 12:49 am

Just recieved my new T43 2687 DRU two days ago, and today upon starting and restarting the computer, it appears that the icons in my system tray are gradually dissapearing. When I first recieved my thinkpad, it had enough tray icons to drag it out by pushing the arrow, but now there's only about five icons. There were a few on there that I miss, such as the fingerprint reader app that appears at startup, and the Intel a/b/g wireless control thingy. Also the windows battery manager is gone. I'm thinking maybe the new thinkpads are installed with a tray icon cleaner prog? If someone could please help me out with this it would be greatly appreciated.

That's a known windows bug that never seems to get fixed. Just log out, then log back in and they should all appear.

Right click on the bar at the bottom of the screen, left click on properties, see if the 'Hide Active Icons' box is checked. You can uncheck the box - or - left click on customize and left click on 'Behavior' for the individual icons. Choose 'Always show', 'Always hide', or 'Hide when inactive'.
