ya. they usually come with sanyo.. i've seen several of them. nothing wrong with it.

none that i've seen (3) rattle. you would have to force it to make it rattle.. which is dumb anyway.

FWIW, my Sony 9-cell arrived today as promised and, while not a perfect fit, is *much* beter than the Sanyo.

Thanks again for the tip!

Drat, my battery is out of warranty! :(

I have a Sanyo 6-cell and it has the lousy fit reported here and elsewhere. Thankfully there's always thin foam to fix such things :)

interesting that you had the battery for at least a year, and that it didn't bother you till you saw the problem on the thread.......

The FRU posted by flatdraft for the 9-cell matches what IBM sent me (92P1013).

I ordered it with FRU 08K8195 and they sent me the 92P1011. I think it's the same thing, the 08K8195 is a Matsui battery, the 92 is the Sony. They may be the same, but when I ordered the 08K, they sent me the 92 :)

Hi All,

I found this number : 11s08k8192z1z75n45h0xg, so do I assume the battery part number is 08k8192?
I cannot find in any of your posts this part number, is this one Sony or Sanyo? Or, where can I find the battery part number?

Thanks,

:D

OK, so what i've to do is:

Call IBM and tell them to replace my Sanyo (FRU: 08K8193) for Sony (FRU: 08K8195) 6 Cell battery? Is that simple? I mean, is IBM that easy to exchange parts?

Thank you all, this rattle is very irritating

I just called tech support, and asked if I could get Sony 9-cell replacement for my Sanyo 9-cell....the guy on the line said that they will bill me for the battery, unless it is the exact same FRU# as the one I send back, so I wouldn't want to do that....is anyone else being told this?? I didn't think there was a price difference between the two...

Nope, nothing like that happend to me. I called and told them the following 'I have the T42, brand new, working perfectly, it's a fabulous machine. I just have one issue. I noticed that the battery rattles a lot when I use it. As I spend a lot of time on the train and in buses, I can't afford the rattling and losing my work as the laptop powers off. I have the FRU numbers for the batteries that do not rattle, so I'd like to do an exchange...' poof. Worked perfectly.

admsteiner wrote:Hi all,

After all the talk of the wiggling Sanyo batteries on the T42, I decided to call IBM and see what could be done. They're sending me via next day delivery (due to the time I won't get it until Thursday) a Sony (FRU: 08K8195) 6 Cell battery which will replace my Sanyo (FRU: 08K8193).

However, when it comes to the 9 cell, the bad news is that the Sony ones are backordered. They won't be in for another three weeks. However, once they do come in, IBM will be sending one to me to replace my current (and 4 hour old) 9 cell Sanyo battery.

Just in case anyone else wanted to go ahead and do the same.

Which wiggle are you refering to? In the horizontal direction, or the vertical? Both my Sony 9 cell and Sanyo 6 cell will wiggle in the vertical direction, and I applied small pieces of double sided foam on the chassis, and that fixed it completly. As for the horizontal direction, the 6 cell Sanyo will move a few mm (2-3), but the 9 cell Sony doesn't. I suspect that the 9 cell will not move much in the horizontal direction, either Sony or Sanyo, since the extra depth and the part that extends to the VGA port side will prevent much horizontal movement.

Can you tell me if your 9 cell Sanyo, and your new 6 cell Sony, does NOT move more than 2mm in the horizontal direction?

Still not clear on this issue, do the Sony batteries come with certain models or is it random batteries with random ThinkPads?
