External battery for Thinkpads

#1 Post by Whitieiii » Sat Jan 26, 2019 7:05 pm

Are there any external batteries that are big but small enough to take in a plane and would charge or maintain a charge on Thinkpads with the slim tip connection? Seems that my Thinkpad Yoga S1 has crappy battery life just browsing the web.. don't think it lasts for more than 3-4 hours and if i can get it to last 5-7 hours that would be good enough... Tried a battery i got for mum but it is only 45w i believe and i don't have anything but 90w adapters so it didn't work... Suggestions? Wanna buy a dedicated battery

Step 1: Get rid of that S1 Yoga as a long life machine.
Step 2: Replace it with an X240/X250...
Step 3: Use the internal 24wh + external 72wh battery

Now you have 8+ hours of battery life.

I don't know of any Lenovo OEM powerbanks and I honestly wouldn't trust a power bank from any other manufacturer for laptops but YMMV.
Thinkpad4by3's Law of the Universe.

The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.

might do that if external batteries an't that good... I do like the Yoga part of the Yoga S1 but it just doesn't have any battery life at all.. I might look into going eather x240 i3 or X1 Tablet Gen 2 M3 (or lowest cpu with 8gb ram)... I always love the battery life of my T440s but want something small for portability I've held off for long enough so might as well do it...

Why not use the T440s as your travel machine? I mean, it’s not that big or heavy.
