After much debate, I joined the family. 266875U T43 on order

Been searching for a laptop for a couple weeks now. The thinkpads were out of my price range, or so I thought, I guess I increased my range!

I was planning on buying a ~$1300 HP DV1000, or the new L2000, or perhaps a Sony Vaio S460.

But no, I just dropped $1700 (dang taxes) for this bad boy, the only thing I am missing is firewire.

I thought I got a good deal, but a search tells me people were paying the same price 3 months ago, so who knows!

Time to retire my (great) Compaq n400c ultraportable.

Off to eBay for a docking station.

I ordered the same the system. I had the 72U for two weeks and then it went defective - see sig. So I returned for a 75U, which is the same thing except it has a different wireless card. I was very happy with my thinkpad, besides the defect, and I think you will be too. Fine pieces of machinery  That price sounds about right... sounds like an EPP too.

Well my order got canceled.

Now I need to find a kind person so I can get the EPP discount.

Bummer, I was looking forward to the T43.

why was it canceled in the first place? if you've already used epp to place one order then canceled it, I see no reason why you can't use it again to place another order to replace the previous order.

No it was some code for the contractors website, I was told it was legit, but it turns out it wasn't. Thats fair enough, I don't blame them.

It's just funny 'cause I talked myself into spending $1700, and was all excited about it, and now I might have to buy some consumer HP/Compaq thing I dont really want.

I must know someone who works for IBM, but no one is coming to mind.

Yes, yesterday somebody posted a contractor code on fatwallet forums and then on slickdeals and I believe that at least about 100 people bought computers using that code and then sombody reported that to IBM and they cancelled all orders.
