T43 2687DRU: is it the best bang for the bucks?

#1 Post by Wholesomer » Fri Jul 01, 2005 6:14 pm

Hi,

I can buy the T43 2687DRU with the following specs:

Intel Centrino Mobile Technology
Microsoft Windows XP Professional
512 MB
60 GB
Intel® Pentium® M Processor 750 1.86GHz
14.1"
1400x1050
64MB ATI Mobility RADEON x300
4.8-5.12
UltraNav
Ultrabay Slim
CD-RW/DVD-ROM Combo
Three years parts and labor (system battery: one year)

Is it the best bang for the bucks? Is there any other model that you would buy compare to this one? TIA

Edit: The price has been removed out of respect for the Owner of this site. I am new here and didn't know that posting the price quote might not be a good idea since Bill is also selling the thinkpads.

Does it meet all your needs? The price is good.

There isn't an aboslute best bang for the bucks in buying a laptop, unlike buying gas in $$/gallon.

Is it a 7200 RPM harddrive? I'd be a shame to have anything less in that nice machine :).

It's a 5400 RPM hard drive. I believe he 7200 RPM comes standard with the T4xP unless you want to opt for the 80GB which is also a 5400 RPM drive

I think hes asking for
Preformance/Price + Wallet not being murdered in the middile of the night.
Or he might be asking
Will I enjoy this laptop/For this price

If you're not a big gamer (Half Life 2, etc). You will love Thinkpads. They're very durable lightweight laptops.

Yes, you are exactly right. I was wondering if the price/performance is a good deal or not. I am not playing game on the laptop. Size wise, I think the 14.1 screen is better for me.

Well you're definately 10 folds of the recomended you need for web-browsing or word processing (Haha, Pentium 256 can run word!)

What do you plan to use this laptop for?
Thinkpads are built for durablity and godly techsupport. Not preformance most of the time (Unless you count battery life.)

I went ahead and ordered it as well as the X41 Tablet since I have accessed to the EPP code now and don't know when the code will disappear.

I have two Dell laptops but somehow their keyboard doesn't feel as good as my old 600X. I couldn't justify buying the IBM until now due to the special EEP code. I only use the laptops for work related and travel. I don't play game (don't have time for game any more :)
