Butterfly Battery Overhaul

#1 Post by farmer kev » Sat Jul 02, 2005 6:16 pm

All the batteries for 701s that have come my way are dead 1.5 amp or less ni-cad units.
This week my order of 2.3 amp NiMh tabbed AA batteries came in, pack is sized for the 5/4 AA but the only ones I could find were lower capacity and more expensive. One upgrade I'm thinking about is use some of the left over space for a socket so I can easly hook up an external 10.8 volt pack.
Did they ever offer a drop in charger for this type of battery pack?

I do have a drop in charger for my 600, 02K6499, the one with interchangable adapters, guess I could modify the 380/385 unit to work, oops no, it has 5 contacts and I only need 4.
BTW, I have opened two of these batteries now, much easier than either the 600 or the 755cd battery pack I have also opened. Also they only have one transistor, wish I could find a NiMh version to open but no luck so far.
Any imput from those who have gone before would be great!
