Recovery CD's: Only one shot to make them!

#1 Post by JHaislet » Sun Jul 03, 2005 5:44 am

I've got a gripe!

I got my T43 yesterday and proceeded to make my recovery CD set. However, a writing error on the first CD (defective CD) ruined the entire set. When I tried to burn the CD's again with a different brand of CD's, it said I'm limited to ONE freaking set, and it wouldn't burn them again

I used the clean install XP guide to do a clean install and reclaimed the recovery partition, and everything is working fine. I just really wanted a set of recovery disc's in case I need to return it to IBM or sell the machine. I guess I'll be calling IBM for the discs as their self-destruct method of making them yourself SUCKS.

I believe that if you use the recovery partition to restore XP you can burn a set of recovery cd's again. Might want to verify that. :?

I didn't even think of that! Oh well, the recovery partition is long gone now! I'll be calling IBM next week and see what they say.

Hmmm. On my T42p, the recovery disk makes verified the burn to the CD before it deleted the ability to make another set. I had a burn issue as well, but when it failed the verification process, it let me burn another set.
