analog audio on x210 of the 3rd batch?

#1 Post by cypherpunks » Sat Jun 08, 2019 7:50 am

I'm a happy owner of a new (3rd batch) x210. but i have problems getting analog audio (internal/external speakers/mic) working under Linux. i only see 5 HDMI devices:

Code: Select all

# aplay -l
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: PCH [HDA Intel PCH], device 3: HDMI 0 [HDMI 0]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 0: PCH [HDA Intel PCH], device 7: HDMI 1 [HDMI 1]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 0: PCH [HDA Intel PCH], device 8: HDMI 2 [HDMI 2]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 0: PCH [HDA Intel PCH], device 9: HDMI 3 [HDMI 3]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 0: PCH [HDA Intel PCH], device 10: HDMI 4 [HDMI 4]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
In the original BIOS i found under chipset a "hd audio subsystem advanced configuration settings" -> "i2s configuration select" which opens up a selection of the following options:
- realtek alc298
- realtek alc286s
- analog devices ssm4567
- 24bit 48kHz master
- 24bit 48kHz slave
- PCM 16bit 8kHz master
- PCM 16bit 8kHz slave

I tried them all but none of them worked. Also i tried to disable the HDMI devices in the BIOS but they still show up.

I run alsa-info.sh and put the output http://tpaste.us/Xnm1 here in case anyone is so kind to have a look.

Can anyone else with a 3rd batch x210 confirm this, or am I the only one with a faulty analog audio?

Do you have any idea how to get analog (ext/int) audio (speakers an headphones/mic) working under Linux?

thanks a lot!

I have a 3rd batch X210 with kinda-working audio, but i have my known-good sound card in it. I didn't have to do anything to get it working.

Code: Select all

∞ aplay -l
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: PCH [HDA Intel PCH], device 0: CX20585 Analog [CX20585 Analog]
  Subdevices: 0/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 0: PCH [HDA Intel PCH], device 3: Generic Digital [Generic Digital]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
51nb X210 with vladisslav2011's EC mod; X230 with coreboot and nitrocaster's FHD mod as a backup; R500 for guests; T60 just for the looks.

I just checked, and it turns out I have no analog sound card installed on the small secondary board that hosts the sdcard/modem. this explains it all. thanks for your hint!

if you look at this picture: http://www.cnmod.cn/wp-content/uploads/ ... 24x684.jpg where there is a big white sticker saying conexant, i have a hole there, there is nothing there for me.

The small USB board on the right side is from an original X201. Just get another X201 USB daughter card with the analog audio and it should work perfectly
