UltraBay Li-Ion Battery Primary-Secondary Swap

#1 Post by rardhian » Sun Jul 03, 2005 10:07 pm

Hi all,

I'm thinking about purchasing an UltraBay 2000 Li-Ion Battery for my refurbished T23. I really need more than 3.5 hours of standby, and I also want to run it with 1.13Ghz too... :)

Considering my primary battery might not be new, is it possible to swap the UltraBay battery as the primary battery? I.e. the Thinkpad will use the power from UltraBay first, and then the primary battery later -- when the UltraBay battery runs out.

Thanks in advance.

*I'm getting to love Thinkpads -- and ready to medical check-up a new T43 :D*

The newer T series always draw from the ultrabay battery first, and I seem to recall the T2x series doing the same, though its been a while and I may be mistaken.

I see... but (on those newer Ts) are there any way to configure it? Swapping the behaviour, at the BIOS level or Windows level?

By the way, are UltraBay Batteries for T23 is compatible with newer Ts?

No glitches here, just several things that didn't made it to the stage.

I think the newer T-series has the slim ultrabay while the older T-series had an ultrabay 2, so no they are not compatible.

No way to swap that I know of, it just drains the ultrabay first and then the main cell.
