Thinkpad 560 8081 boot up error

#1 Post by Stinkpad » Wed Jul 06, 2005 2:52 pm

I was given a 560 that has an 8081 error which does not detect the PCMCIA cards or slot for that matter. It shows;

card services not found
unable to register card services
driver not installed
PCMCIA-ATA Device Driver Version 1.01
Initialization Failed
IBM DOS PC Card Auto Configurator Version 2.01
The Card Services is not installed
IBM Auto Configurator was not installed

I have reloaded windows 95 (all from floppies since I cannot get the external CD-Rom to work throught the PCMCIA slot) and it still comes up with the same error.

I can bypass the error and use the laptop but just cannot use any of the PC cards. I have a modem card, ethernet card and external CD-ROM card for it.

I have searched the internet to no avail. I could not find anything on the IBM or Lenovo site.

Could someone help me please! I was wondering if anyone else has come across this problem. I don't know if it is software or hardware related.

Thanks for your help.

:( Well, over a week and no replies, I guess no one has a solution or no one has seen this problem. Does anyone know of newsgroups or other Thinkpad forums that might be able to help?
