Parts Lookup

#1 Post by CaptainMorgan » Wed Jul 06, 2005 9:29 pm

Can some please check this site -
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... sLookup.vm
enter in you make and serial number.. can you look up parts??

For some reason after entering in mine - which is in transit for the past day and a half, I cannot look up parts. I could before with my previous laptop at this point in the delivery. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Yep, it worked for me.

If i remember right though, I tried to do the same thing when my machine was in transit and had the same problem. I don't know how their system works, you would think it would be in their database before it actually ships :? .

Mine comes up as,

no parts listed.

Can anyone relate to this? Or know what's going on? Please don't tell me they're sending a hollow laptop..

I tried doing a parts lookup on mine the day it shiped but to no avail. I also tried the next day with the same result. I think I got it on the third day so then, I just went to the site, let it automatically detect my system and everything was there. I don't know whether doing the autodetect had anything to do with it or whether it just took that long for their database to update.

If they're not just sending you an empty shell I would be interested to see what parts you get. I have a 75U as well and am very happy with it. I got the NMB keyboard and the Hydis panel. The only part on mine that I have even a slight issue with is the Sanyo battery, as it seems just a touch loose, as indicated by other posts here.

What parts did you have in the 72U and what was the defect?

Thanks puzz...

That might be it, certainly seems like it's an error. Aw, Id be furious if they actually sent me a hollow box.

On the original I had the Chicony keyboard, Sanyo battery and Samsung screen and it is missed dearly.. I had pictures up and I will post them again in my sig soon - Im selling a completely different laptop, different brand and model, and I had to use the server space for the pics as I didn't want to pay for an account - so the IBM pics are temporarily not up, once my other laptop sells Ill put them back up. Basically it was a perfect vertical and green line from top to bottom. Here's the thread - unfortunately, the limited supply of sig space doesn't let me add the link... can't win I guess: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.ph ... highlight=

EDIT: Hmm.. just added it to my sig.. wasn't able to a week ago.. strange..
