T43 screen replacement
Hi all,
I recently bought a Thinkpad T43 (model 2668-44M) with 14'' LCD @ 1028x768. Because I use the laptop mostly for software development and web design, the resolution is a bit low for me. I wonder how much IBM will charge for screen replacement. Also, does anyone know about the compatibility of LCD across T series? For example, can a T43 use a T42 LCD? If anyone here has a 14'' LCD at 1400x1050 resolution for sell, I will be interested in.
Thanks.

If it is within 30 days from invoice (assuming you purchased directly from IBM/lenovo) you can return it with no questions asked. This would probably be the best way. If not, not you would probably loose your warranty and it might be hard to replace it yourself. Also, i believe i read hear someone said a new SXGA cost about $400

I don't know whether I can do it here in Australia. Is this IBM/Levono policy internationally or just in the US?c333 wrote:If it is within 30 days from invoice (assuming you purchased directly from IBM/lenovo) you can return it with no questions asked. Hurry ...
You'd better hurry because i doubt that IBM does screen replacements. This is something that i've never heard of a laptop maker doing after the machine has been built (because usually it requires a new graphics chip too, and perhaps even a new motherboard to house the graphics chip) So your options would be to return the box, or sell it used and buy a new machine. On my T40 IBM won't even sell me a replacement screen - i think it can only be "fixed" it cannot be "changed".
If you're unhappy with the screen you should return it pronto or face a big loss on selling it as a used laptop ...

Re: Hurry ...
Thanks for the advice systemBuilder. I alreay called IBM and am waiting for the representative to call me back. However, I don't think screen replacement requires new graphics card. Am I right?
