Just got my ThinkPad T41 2373-7FU!

#1 Post by nimba » Thu Jul 07, 2005 11:43 pm

hi all,

I am new here and I just received my thinkpad in the mail yesterday (purchased new off an ebay seller). I must say this is a remarkable piece of equipment, and it really means business from what I can tell so far, and from what I read in reviews prior to my purchase.

My thinkpad didn't come with manual or recovery CD, so I'm basically learning everything online and downloading drivers and software all day. I got the thinkvantage software installer to download all drivers and background software I need, and I came across something you all might be able to help me with - the IBM backup and recovery program? or something like that. I lost the link but it was something I install (a large install at that) to backup my hard-drive. Would anyone know where to find it exactly, because I tried the IBM site but it seems to be well hidden.

Also, if there is any cool feature or recommendation you all have for a new thinkpad user, I would be thrilled to hear it!

thanks alot in advance!

that may help, its a wikkipedia devoted to thinkpads.

the backup is a ghost of the hd right after the os was put on it. im sure using a windowsxp cd you could whipe the whole drive, but id rather have that backup chunk.

Hi nimba,
Did you purchase that model from moosehead500 on ebay? I just purchased it from him and was wondering how it was packaged and if everything went well with the purchase?
Thanks,
Gael

Do you mind telling me what you paid for this unit? I am selling a loaded T-41 on this site.

Thanks

i did purchase from moosehead!

wow funny how that works. I payed 955 US + 15 shipping. = 970 US.
They are going for about 1200 - 1400 but he had a very low buy-it-now price and i couldnt resist. Came as a true blessing, as I had actually sold my computer in search of a thinkpad.

the model is in acceptional condition. I don't think it has ever been used by the looks of it actually. It came with a power adapter which was actually sealed still in a box with the IBM seal on it. If this is the original adapter, it would suggest that the notebook hadnt been used more than a couple of hours, because the battery wouldnt have been able to be charged.

Came well packaged with some large bubble wrap in a box larger than a standard laptop box.

Not a scratch, spot, or hair on this thing. Everything works like a charm and I really love it. Probably the best deal I have ever closed on Ebay, and moosehead is now added to my "favourite sellers" list. He is the first to get these honors!

hope that helps

Yeah, same here, I couldn't help but go for his buy it now price. Sometimes there are just some great deals on ebay. I'm glad to hear things went well. I'll be looking forward to getting mine soon. The price of this was so good considering that a comparably speced dell was $1100 and had a 90 day warranty on it. Thanks for the response.
