Which X series have USB 2.0 ports?
Which X series have USB 2.0 ports?
I'm now shopping for a replacement for my 365xd.
Reading the newsgroups, web site, and a variety of other sources, it would seem that an X22-31 would fit the bill. Naturally, I'd like to spend as little as necessary, mostly out of fear of lossage, theft, or defect necessitating a replacement.
My concern is that USB 1.0 or 1.1 ports are too slow to support some modern peripherals, including keychain drives. But I am at a loss to discover which, if any of the X series, feature built-in USB 2.0 ports?
I have no interest in using an add-on card. USB is schizophrenic enough without adding PCMCIA misbehavior to the mix.
Thanks muchly,
Elray

Your problem there is that the X22-30 all use the i830 chipset, which does not support USB 2.0.
As for the X31, OTOH, it uses the i855 chipset, which most definitely DOES support it. So, look at that. Also, look at the X32 - same thing as an X31, but with Dothan (90nm) CPUs instead of older Banias (130nm) CPUs.

X## USB Specs request
Is there a tech resource anywhere that lists which USB version is present on each of the X series TPs? I scanned the forums (with only partial answers) & ibm/lenovo support. I have a X20 2662

ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/pc/pcinstitu ... awbook.pdf is the guide you'll want for discontinued models, and ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/pc/pcinstitu ... tabook.pdf for current models. Look under Ports, the first will be the USB ports, and what version they are.

re: X20 USB version
many thanks!
for those googling later or considering upgrading,
X20 has USB v1.1! (i.e. slow)
& a pc card upgrade is the way to go
X20 system current support - single TypeII CardBus 32-bit PCMCIA v2.1 / No ZoomedVideo
