T42P OR T43

Can anyone tell me the pros and cons between the two models listed.

Thanks for your help. I want to buy a TP but want to make sure I buy the right one. I hear so much in this forum negative about the T43 heating up, loud etc. I don't want to buy a dog, but the T43 has the 533 front side bus, new chipset on and on.

Let me know what you guys think.

Actual performance gain from the 533MHz bus is far less than 33%. Numbers are just, numbers - no need to get too hung up on them.

It all depends on luck. You might be unlucky and receive a VERY loud T42p, or you might be lucky and receive a quiet T43. Just get the one you prefer, or even better, the one with the better bang for the buck.

I wouldn't sweat it too much. I have no problems with my T43p as far as heat goes or noise. The fan is very quiet the majority of the time and unlike most laptop fans when it turns up theres no grinding or mechanical whine, instead just the sound of fast moving air which I find to be a great improvement over most laptops I've used.

The 533 bus is a minor deal, sure your RAM is "faster" but you end up with higher latencies so in most situations the difference is negligible. In some media situations that increases bus speed will pay off but overall I agree with the other suggestions that you get whatever is the better deal.

From what I've read the T43s are better now with regard to fan noise and the 15" is probably the best in that regard.
