So... the UXGA panel in my A31p died. What are my replacement options?
I could compromise on IPS, but I want the maximum resolution (1600x1200).
Take a look at our

Re: I'm looking for information on A31p UXGA panels
Obviously the IDTech UXGA panels that came from these A31p laptops are extremely hard to find as they are notoriously known for failed backlights and yellowing.
An UXGA screen from a R50p/T42p/T43p/T6xp would electrically work, but the connector is not low enough for the A3x cables to reach and I haven't really seen anyone selling LVDS extension cables.
There are some non-IPS but almost as good UXGA screens here. AFAIK there are a number of Sharp panels that would work with these things. Also AFAIK screens from other laptops like a Latitude C810/C840 or Inspiron 8100/8200 works just fine on a A3xp with the inverter board removed (not the other way around since Latitudes use EDID chips which most screens at that time do not have)
A Satellite pro screen would also work but you need to mod the backlight connector as it is using the old school connector found on older ThinkPads like the 770 series.

Extenders can be found here: https://www.pchub.com/uph-oecv075-lcd-c ... -cm-p42196
Slightly OT:
Initially I used similar extenders (same P/N, but with white cables) from them for my LED-mods.
But then PChub changed suppliers and those 'new' pink ones are sloppily soldered and need reworking before use.
Plus my LED-mods no longer need them!

Lovely day for a Guinness! (The Real Black Stuff)
