A21e Max Memory
Hi All, I recently aquired an A21e, 2655-XXX, Trying to boost the Memory I put in a 256mb Module (16Chips) and a 128mb Module. Upon Reboot I get A Prompt saying Too much memory Remove to Continue and it Stops. Im a 770 girl and Max them all, But This is not a thinkpad 700 Mhz machine if the Memory is not Upgradeable. Was This Built as a Little old ladies email Machine? Please Help. I am a little old Lady near Passedena and want a Super Stocker. Thanks Bill, For The Compliment and this Forum. Love Michele

Re: A21e Max Memory
That wouldn't be the Celeron model You have? The IBM support site (scroll down) tells us that it only takes 128MB.missmichele85365 wrote:I recently aquired an A21e, 2655-XXX

Who doesn't? Even the "low-end" Celery would feel great in >256MB and would happily apply its 700MHz to access it instead of waiting for data to be swapped in and out from the hard disk. But alas, quoth' the site,missmichele85365 wrote:But I want More.
so it seems You're out of luck.Memory
Systems with Celeron processor have standard system memory of 64 MB of 100 MHz, Non-parity, 64-bit SDRAM SO DIMM memory. This is expandable to a maximum of 256 MB with 64 or 128 MB SO DIMMs. There are two internal slots for memory modules. One is used for the 64 MB of standard memory and one is available for customers whorequire a memory upgrade. For customers that need the maximum 256 MB to which memory can be expanded, the 64 MB card can be replaced with a 128 MB card plus add another 128 MB card in the extra slot.
NOTE: The 256 MB SO DIMM memory module can not be used in systems with the Celeron processor.
cheer up, tho',
