Q: Which is the largest available drive for a X40?

#1 Post by petter_p » Wed Jul 13, 2005 1:48 pm

Hi all!

I'm a happy owner of a X40 but really would like to upgrade the 40 gb hard drive to (at least) a 60 gb. I have searched through the forums but haven't found any info about which hard drives that are compatible with the X40.

Can anyone help me?

The 60GB 1.8 inch hard drive is compatible with the X40. You can look up the part # on the IBM website.

EDIT: It's the only upgrade you can get.

You should be able to find the drive from other vendors for about a $100 dollars less.

hi, I posted on this awhile ago; I did the 60gb 1.8" hitachi drive in my X40 and it's worked great... no complaints... info in this topic thread:

I'd bought that Hitachi 60GB 1.8" HDD (with ATA connector) from NewEgg for 200 bucks and stuck it in this 1.8" USB drive enclosure. It's amazingly small compared to my previous 2.5" enclosures, and works reliably off bus power (I use retractable USB cables from the likes of ZipLinq, Boxwave, etc).
