I become a thinkpad owner! just bought a t40p for 1200USD
At last..I join the club..
I went for this in the end...having found it hard to get a sxga machine.
I hope i did ok...I release the T40p..is an old machine, but I couldn't see any differences to the T41p or T42...that would merit going for them
any thoughts? did i do ok?

added a 100Gb drive and extra memory now
I bought myself a 5K100 100Gb drive to add to it, since, i need a lot of room for vmware installs.
also, purchased some additional 1gb ram.
overall, happy, but still waiting for it to arrive.
I read in these groups...that the radeon 9000 has a habit of failing. But..we'll its hard to tell how likely that is.
I am waiting for a dual core thinkpad for next year..that is the ultimate goal.

VMware WS runs well on my T40p with 1GB RAM.livejazz wrote:I bought myself a 5K100 100Gb drive to add to it, since, i need a lot of room for vmware installs.

I have not experienced any issues with my video. I stick to using IBM driver even if a newer driver is available from ATI.
