How to add new user (t43)
I currently am the administrator and only user of my T43 laptop. Does anyone know how to activate the 'Administrator Utility' function, which as I understand enables the admin to add Windows users...under ACCESS IBM>IBM Client Securty Software>(there is no option to launch that utility, which I would expect to be here...)
Thanks!

If you just want to add a Windows user, do this:
Go to Start>Control Panel (if you're using the Classic Start Menu, it'll be Start>Settings>Control Panel).
Go to Users.
Add a user from there.
For other users, lather, rinse, and repeat.
When you're done, close it out.
Go to Start>Control Panel (if you're using the Classic Start Menu, it'll be Start>Settings>Control Panel).
Go to Users.
Add a user from there.

When you're done, close it out.

OK. I did in fact do that. It seems my CSS software doesnt work as advertised. I was able to add the new user, however I had to be logged in as the user in order to start the fingerprint registration process, which the CSS literature states can be achieved while the Administrator account is active. Thanks for the response.bhtooefr wrote:If you just want to add a Windows user, do this:

To add users, you don't need the IBM Client and Security software. It doesn't even come preloaded on their laptops. You have to download it from IBM/Lenovo's website (it's free). I think this was a wise decision on IBM's part, as I can envision less savvy users really messing up their machine.ewthompson wrote:I currently am the administrator and only user of my T43 laptop. I took a brief look into it myself (I downloaded and installed the software, but a few days later I uninstalled it). What happened was, I became afraid of somehow getting my laptop to a unusable state (I really don't have 'Eyes Only' information stored on my laptop anyway). BTW I have 3 user accounts set up on my T-42.

GomJabber, thanks for the reply. I actually misquoted my original problem. I was able to add WINDOWS users through the traditional method under control panel. However, my interest was in allowing the new user to register and use their fingerprints for entry into windows, etc.GomJabbar wrote:To add users, you don't need the IBM Client and Security software. The CSS lit makes reference to an Administrator Utility, which I now understand requires downloading. I might avoid downloading it, and simply let my wife register her prints while logged on under her own profile.
