I got this machine at the end of last month, see my signiture. Overall, I am quite satisfied with it, there are some points I would like to point out ( some are common to all 15' UXGA T43p)

1. The keyboard and palm rest can be "warm" after using for a while. This is not that confortable for long time typing.

2. The fan................... Well, in normal office environment, you will not notice it, but in some very quite space, such as late night withough TV, AC etc, you can hear it clearly.

3. This model has a Fujitsu 5400RPM harddisk. I can say, this is kind of the bottleneck if you are very keen to performance.

4. My keyboard is a ALPS(Chinese) one, so typing is not that good. But the NMB is no longer made, so .......

Anyway, those are just minor issues, overall, it is a good machine. I bought on eBay and saved the tax, so it is a pretty good deal. I just don't understand why it has such a big price difference comparing with HxU series (I mean WEB price) while the hardware is almost the same.
Current: T43P-2687D5U: P-M 2G, 2G RAM, FireGL V3200 128M, 80G 5400 RPM(Will be 100G 7K100 when 2010 gone!), 15' UXGA, Multi Burner, Intel A/B/G, Bluetooth, 9 Cell, Fingerprint Reader, WinXP Pro
Previous: 390E, 600E, T23, X30, T40 ......

I just received a T43P through work and It has an NMB keyboard. I just got this last week.

I also have a T42P which has the ALPS keyboard.

Maybe the NMB's are being recycled in the P models :)

I'm just going to reinterate what alot of forum mebers here say. Unless you have a real need for the 15inch screen and UXGA screen, I would go for the 14.1 in SXGA+. Many would agree this is the screen-size that suits the thinkpad best, it's lighter, smaller, and still offers a great high resolution screen. I would get the 14.1 inch. Also, that model comes with a 9 cell battery. When i bought my T43 two weeks ago, it came with a 9 cell but there was a free battery promo. That might not be going on now. So think about a 15 inch w/ 9 cell is probably 6-6.5 pounds whereas a 14.1 w/ a 6cell is about 5.3 pounds.

Ditto with the questions. Well, only the last question, actually. I just ordered this one as a gift for a friend, and hope to have it by the end of the month. Will it happen?

about the screen size. i had a 15" uxga in my r50p, and it was pretty awkward at start, but once you get used to it, you never want to go back (thats why i ordered the t43p). i guess if you just surf the web and use ms word, you dont really need it but...
being an it student, i find it very nice to be able to display a lot of code at one time (especially in visual studio). now that my r50p is gone and i'm waiting for the new one, i'm cursing each and every day at my 17" lcd screen (1280x1024) because i seem to spend more time scrolling then i'm actually coding.

IMO, the weight/volume gain is definitely worth it if you're getting a uxga. your world will open!
