Can Bluetooth and Wi-Fi be fitted to a T42 model 2374-E67?
Hi
Does anyone know whether Bluetooth and Wi-Fi can be fitted to a T42 model 2374-E67 please? I can't find it in the hardware guide.
Thanks

Interesting. A Google search on that part number only pulled up 1 site that claimed they had memory for that machine. Are you sure that's the correct part number? Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Information. About the 5th item down in the list is the system name. What number shows up there? Is it 2374-E67 as you reported?
You can go to the following site to see what parts came with your system.

Hi, and many thanks for the quick reply
Unfortunately I don't have the laptop to try. Its one I'm considering purchasing and that is the number the present owner gave me.
After I posted my query I then did what I should have done earlier and searched for it directly at the ThinkPad website. This came back with:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... ind=171922
So, I know from this page that the machine does exist and is "Wi-Fi upgradeable (MPCI)", but not whether it is Bluetooth upgradeable.
Seems odd to me that this model does not appear in the hardware manual.
Any ideas on the Bluetooth situation please?
Thanks

I did an advanced Google search for the 2374-E67 at ibm.com and lenovo.com and came up dry. I learned from you that I need to search from within IBM or Lenovo's website.
The link you provided above indicates that the 2374-E67 is based on the 2374-4WU. Most likely anything that the 2374-4WU will accept will work on the 2374-E67. Adding bluetooth may be more trouble than it's worth if you don't have the built-in antenna. You can always add a USB bluetooth device if you desire. You can search this forum for other users that have added bluetooth to their ThinkPads to see what they went through.
If you search the following web page for 4Wx, you will find the replacement parts for that model.

Ah, many thanks
Didn't spot that ref.
Yeah, I'd like to keep things as simple as possible. I don't mind poking around inside machines and fixing things if they are simple, but its years since I tried to do anything more elaborate and I'd rather not get into that.
I searched the ThinkPad website because I assumed it would be databse driven to build on-the-fly pages, and there are no (as far as I am aware) search engine that can parse this data. As an aside, I think the last report I read claimed that 90%+ of data "on the web" is in this form (ie in essence beyond the reach of all search engines). Even in-house search engines (based on Google, Autonomy or anything else) seem very clunky on this to me. Usually I just give up after a couple of minutes.
Anyway, thanks again
Cheers!
