My upgraded 80GB 7200 RPM hard drive in my t42 died yesterday. Now I want to restore to the original hard drive. The problem is that I had the original installed in an usb enclosure and I used it to store my IBM Backups. The back-up files take up 32GB leaving "only" 11 GB of free space. I'm guessing this is not enough room.
I do have an old back-up on CD that I could use to restore but as I said it's fairly old and I don't really want to overwrite my current back-up. Also, I did create a bootable restore cd.
Is it possible to just copy the correct files off my usb hard drive to my desktop hard drive, burn them to DVD and use them to restore the original hard drive? If so, what files do i need to burn? How do I break up the files since the won't all fit on one DVD?
Thanks,
Ross
