Basic hard drive question

#1 Post by farmer kev » Sat Jul 16, 2005 1:40 pm

My 240 just showed up, hard drive was said to be wiped.
When laptop is started up the hard drive makes whacking noises.
Pulled it out thinking I could swap in another, nope gotta be a thiner drive.
Noticed when I turned over the drive it made rattely noises.
Something tells me this DBCA-206480 is done for.

6 gig was big enough, what used drive say 10 gig will be low power, quiet and fast and still less than 10mm high?
My latest TP600E 2645-55U
My first TP355 2619-l15

Are you sure you want to get a used drive? New drives would last longer, and they are getting pretty cheap. Newegg.com has 40GB drives for less than $70.
