Display Settings + Shutting down

#1 Post by emf » Sun Jul 17, 2005 3:31 am

Occasionally - rather rarely - when Windows starts loading, suddenly it is turned off. When I start the machine again, it suggests that I start in Safe Mode. I haven't found what causes this, when I start again in normal mode things go OK, but then I have to adjust the Display Properties Settings. What settings are best for the hardware? Also, if anybody has any ideas on what may be causing the shutdowns, please let me know. Thanks, Eustace

The reboot sounds difficult to pin down....maybe you have some corruption somewhere or maybe there is a hardware glitch. The only way to find out is to reload windows.
I expect though you will rightly think that this is too much trouble for a small irritation.
You might find that if you uncheck <Automatically detect plug and play monitors in >Display properties >Settings >Advanced > Monitor, then you will not have to reset things when you reboot from safe mode.
