New ATI Catalyst drivers

#1 Post by kaplanfx » Sun Jul 17, 2005 3:46 pm

well I noticed that ATI released a new ver 5.7 catalyst drivers this week. Has anyone put these on their T42 or T43 with patje's mod (particulary interested if you have an 9600). I saw this: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=13291 thread that talks about catalyst 5.8??? I wasn't able to find any such driver, but anyhow I am hoping to get some feedback before I update my drivers. Does patje's mod work on this new version?

Does patjes mod work with the V3200? I tried the most recent Omegas and they kept locking up whenever I started games.

You can get them on fine and actually use them in games, however I get BSOD in typical random fashion and it points to some part of driver not working well with onboard ATi hardware I think. Removal and registry cleaning ends the issues so YMMV ...

Update: So I went ahead and installed the drivers, everything went fine with the install and windows seem to be running fine... However, when playing World of Warcraft (which is the only game installed) it was significantly choppier than with the 5.6 drivers so I have gone back to the 5.6 drivers until I learn more.
